Exciting Photo exhibit and Ceremony will be taking place in your Neighbourhood this November! Participants from all over the city have been submitting photos of their daily struggles in Regent Park during the revitalization project! On November 9th, these pictures will be put on display for everyone in the city to see them!
If you are interested in attending, here are all the details!
1. Attend the “Voices of the City” photography exhibition and award ceremony, where you will have the opportunity to:
· Check out some amazing photography work and mingle with competition participants
· Hear from an exciting line-up of speakers from various disciplines
· Hear from talented local artist, Sean Martindale http://www.seanmartindale.com/, and check out his latest work on the topic
·Hear from the STEPS initiative http://www.stepsinitiative.com/, and how they are working to make a difference in the community

Project Title: Telling a Different Story: Developing a Youth-Driven Theoretical Model for Working with an Urban Community.
Project Description: This project partners with the Toronto Kiwanis Boys and Girls Club (TKBGC) to involve urban youth from Regent Park in an arts-based research project. The goals are a) to have youth tell their own story through the arts dispelling the stereotypes about themselves and their community and; b) create a youth-driven model to guide practitioners in serving urban youth. Participants from the TKBGC may decide to use music, poetry, dance, visual arts or other media in this endeavor. The project is also intended to enhance research collaboration with the community in general.
Job description: Under the general direction of Dr. Lynn Lavallée, Ryerson University, two research assistants will be working with urban youth from the Toronto Kiwanis Boys and Girls Club to aid in facilitating the arts project. A large component of the research will involve events where the stories captured through the arts can be broadly shared with the community, media and beyond.
The research assistants will be responsible for:
The project will commence in November 2013 and extend to July 2015. The part-time position will involve approximately 10-12 hours per week. The incumbents must be able to work late afternoon / after school (5-9 pm) and some weekends.

The Daniels Corporation and Artscape are in search of young dancers from Regent Park to participate in The Journey, the musical production taking place at Daniels Spectrum this November. The dance auditions are this Thursday, September 26 @ 5:00 PM at The Citadel (304 Parliament Street @ Dundas and Parliament).

Studio BLR presents: A Streetcar Named Desire!
The play begins in Dragon Ally which is located on the corner of Collage and Dufferin, first ally on the NW side behind the cornerstone.
